Cameron Eaton is Australian and lives and works in Brisbane, Queensland. Upon leaving school he studied an Associate Diploma of Engineering and has worked as a Structural Designer and Draftsman for nearly two decades. In 2010 he began studies in Drawing, Painting, Printmaking and Sculpture at the Brisbane Institute of Art.

Cameron is a member of Sculptors Queensland and serves on the Management Committee as Exhibition Coordinator while also managing aspects of the organisations social media presence. He is an Accredited Member of Flying Arts Alliance and has exhibited consistently since 2011 with several of his works being selected for national art prizes. Recently, his work “Ashburn Wilson” won the 2014 Santos Acquisitive Sculpture Award in Roma, he received a Merit Award at the 2014 Moreton Bay Region Art Awards, a Highly Commended Award at the 2014 Sculptors Queensland annual exhibition and the Barnes Award in 2016.

Cameron happily accepts invitations to share his work and expertise in public forums, presentations and demonstrations. He presented at PechaKucha Night Vol 36. at the Brisbane Powerhouse in 2014 and has spoken at several Sculptors Queensland Monthly Forums on both his work and artistic practice as well as social media engagement and strategies for Artists. In 2016 Cameron held demonstrations over several days of sculpture and casting techniques and materials during the Brisbane Sculpture Festival at the Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens and more recently has held demonstration days at his home studio. As part of the Caboolture Regional Art Gallery's exhibition THIS PLACE OF OURS: WORKS FROM THE COLLECTION, Cameron was invited to join several other exhibiting artists in a panel discussion about the work on display and the impact of art engagement in the region.

Artist Statement

As an artist, I am interested in exploring ideas around humanity, societal constructs and in particular, the relationships between humanity and technology, human creativity and industrialised creative capacity. Employing mostly figurative subjects, I seek to find intersections between the hand crafted and the digitally enabled; the natural and the materially synthetic; the organic and the designed.

I engage in a range of traditional artistic modalities including drawing, painting and sculpture, augmented with computer aided design and digital manufacturing processes.
