2011 lino prints

In 2011 I made a lot of lino prints. While I had come to printmaking with an interest in learning copper plate etching, I ended up focused on something completely different. While researching printmaking processes, something I'd never taken much interest in before, I came to appreciate the colour and quality of Japanese woodcut prints and tried my hardest to replicate this look with my limited skill and basic tools.

Things started out quite promising but strangely, as time went on, I found it more and more difficult to achieve consistent results. Towards the end, in early 2012, I spent days working at it yet failed to make even one satisfactory print. I realised that if I were to take printmaking further, I would need a great deal more instruction in the tools, processes and materials that would achieve the the look I was after. But by that stage, my studies had moved onto other things.

One day I'll get back on that particular horse.
